Spa and Wellness:Benefits of Cannabis

The various health and wellness benefits of cannabis are gaining popularity, especially among those who are interested in natural health and wellness.

Yes, the plant is well-known for its psychedelic properties, but it's also used for fuel, clothes, food, medicine, and, yes, cosmetics. As more individuals become aware of the benefits and medicinal properties of cannabis, the stigma surrounding it appears to be fading. People want it in their skincare and anti-aging creams, face masks, and lip balms because of the outcomes, not because of the hype.

Healing Properties

THC has psychoactive properties, while CBD is non psychoactive. Both are attracting attention for their potential healing properties but it’s CBD that people are getting really excited about as it shows promise as a treatment for many ailments — without the high.

Among the assertions regarding CBD’s healing properties and grounds for its use as a topical application and use in body treatments, facials, and more are that is increases relaxation and acts as an anti-inflammatory and pain reliever. Taken orally it’s said to help relieve stress and anxiety.

And spas all across the US and in Canada are incorporating CBD into treatments, usually as a topical application and sometimes ingested. No longer just for outliers, CBD is even making its way into services in luxury spas.

Dispensaries and Wellness Spas

Dispensaries are no longer the seedy establishments they used to be. Some dispensaries resemble high-end boutiques, with fresh, sleek storefronts, eye-catching window displays, and marble countertops, dispensing a wide choice of cannabis items in beautiful packaging.

Cannabis is becoming more and more integrated with the Spa industry too, where THC-infused oil massages are increasing in popularity, as well as cannabis-inspired yoga studios. Both topical and ingestible products are trending in beauty treatments and are also marketed to enhance the yoga experience. Some Wellness bars, where gyms and spas offer refreshments to clients, are also getting on board, offering hemp smoothies and refreshing edibles after a workout.

Cannabis Products and Treatments

CBD-infused spa products are gaining in popularity for reasons mentioned above, plus the topical benefits CBD oil can have on the skin.

Several ISPA members have CBDinfused products, all of which claim to reduce inflammation and soothe skin.

This is because CBD's pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory qualities are released when administered topically with a cannabis-infused massage (typically in the form of oil or lotion), making the experience significantly more soothing. Practitioners benefit from CBD oil because they can work muscles more effectively and on a deeper level without the pain that comes with administering a deep-tissue therapy without it.

There's never been a better time to add a little weed to your wellness routine. Day spas all over the country are joining the ganja revolution and taking advantage of the plant's therapeutic benefits by using CBD oils in everything from facials to topical THC cremes during massages. Even though THC-infused lotions don't penetrate the skin and won't get you high, these treatments are only available in Colorado. Spas in states like California, Vermont, and New York are also taking things to a new level of relaxation by offering services with CBD oil.
